Seyyed Hosseijn Nasr was born in 1933 in Tehran, Iran. Sent to the United States at an early age he attended MIT and Harvard University. Returning to Iran he later on became the President of Arya Mehr University. Nasr was also a student of the prominent Muslim scholar Allameh Tabatabai and was also appointed as the head of the Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy by the Empress Farah Pahlavi. After the Iranian Revolution, Nasr settled in America where he finally became Professor of Islamic Studies at The George Washington University.
